Red Carpet Treatment

I covered the red carpet arrivals at the BET Honors this past weekend here in DC, which is the first time I've done that sort of entertainment news coverage. I was kind of surprised to see a number of people I know from the standard political press corps there, which made me feel a bit better about myself, despite warnings that it would be a soul-sucking experience.

All in all, the whole thing was rather congenial and not entirely the paparazzi experience I was bracing myself for. The "stars" were cooperative, posed where we asked them to, and made eye contact when requested. There was little to no shouting. Like almost everything else, the image of such work is tinged with a bit of hyperbole.
